Catholics Come Home Ad shows up during WWE programming

I always want Catholics, especially those who handle media duties, to try thinking outside of the box. Don't just try reaching the people in the pews, go outside of that comfort zone!

While watching the exploits of CM Punk and John Cena on WWE Monday Night Raw, I saw those Catholics do exactly what I want: advertise in unique ways. Yes, Catholics Come Home ran an ad twice during the Monday night wrestling show.

Here's the ad, and I should add that it's very well done. It conveys the positive things about The Catholic Church without going too preachy. This video is the long version of the ad, but during RAW it was shortened to about 30 seconds.

I know that TV ads are purchased in different ways. Soemtimes a company buys ad space directly from the network, and other times it buys ad space from the cable or satellite provider. So I'm not sure if Catholics Come Home went directly to the WWE or USA Network and specifically requested to show up during Raw, if they bought the ad from USA Network and let them when to air it, or if they just bought ad space from DirecTV and let them decide what station and time.

So I have no idea if it was just DirecTV subscribers who saw this ad while watching wrestling, or if the entire four million who watch WWE on Mondays across the country saw it. Regardless, it was definitely a step in the right direction. Airing the ad during a crazy popular show that many families watch together is precisely where the ad needs to air.

We need good quality work like this. If the commercials suck, then nobody takes it seriously. God gave all of us artistic talents: we should do our very best when it comes to creating media that will attract lapsed Catholics and non-Catholics alike.

Well done, Catholics Come Home. Very well done.
